2025 – Year of the Snake

Another year, another animal. This year in 2025, Arc’teryx is back for the fourth consecutive year by launching something truly special for the Lunar New Year.

To celebrate the Year of the Wood Snake, Arc’teryx is releasing a limited-edition variant of their legendary jacket, the Alpha SV. This iconic piece, one of the brands most durable alpine climbing jackets, gets a special treatment with a collaboration from the artist ROSTARR.

Romon K Yang (aka ROSTARR) is a Korean-born artist and abstract calligraphy pioneer who worked with brands such as Nike, the Standard Hotels group, and Moncler. His work is a fusion of ancient and contemporary styles – blending street art with the fluidity of calligraphy.

These touches can be seen represented on this collaboration with Arc’teryx. There is a beautifully embroidered snake in golden thread on the left arm of the garment, emanating ROSTARR’s style of flow. On the right section of the hood, you can find his pyramid logo also sewn in the same beautiful thread, Arc’teryx calls ‘Edziza.’ Inside the Alpha SV, there is an inner chest pocket that features the heat pressed Alpha SV branding in silver as well as a snake in motion.

Made from recycled GORE-TEX Pro 2.0, this edition seems to be an evolution of the standard Alpha SV jacket which uses N100D Most Rugged 3L GORE-TEX Pro.

Unlike in previous years, this collection includes only one item in the assortment. The Year of the Snake Alpha SV will be available in limited quantities at select Arc’teryx stores.

“The snake is a mysterious and beautiful creature that I have a lot of reverence for. Channeling my Asian roots, I created a calligraphic one-stroke image of a snake in an S-shaped striking position — making it look as if it’s gazing into the future. The scales of the snake’s skin are represented by abstract strokes, giving it a feeling of motion and rhythm, from head to tail.”
